Skid Fabrication Excellence
Our customer had been looking for some time for the right solution before they contacted DIALOG Fitzroy Australia to see if we could help. Ultimately we were asked to fabricate four gas production skids to be deployed in the Surat Basin in Queensland.
This project scope was to fabricate four trial design skids targeted at low flow or nearing end of life coal seam gas wells. The concept was to develop a separator-less wellsite where much of the water/gas separation occurs down-hole as opposed to on land. Removal of the landside wellsite separators and booster pumps from the gas production process, would potentially realise benefits of improved reliability along with reduced fabrication, construction, operating and maintenance costs. Another interesting part of the trial was the introduction of a three coat, ceramic reinforced internal coating on a portion of the pipe spools to mitigate against microbial induced corrosion.
After receiving the purchase order and with a planned fabrication time of nine weeks, we began fabrication just in time to be halted by a COVID-19 lockdown. But we accepted the challenges this presented and were able to complete the fabrication of the skids to coincide with our client’s work programme.
We had a large number of client visitors inspect the first skid and received some fantastic feedback on the workmanship and presentation which was a true reflection of the amount of hard work put in by everyone who had touched the project.
